He led the Sydney CBD Business Banking division at CBA, directly managing a commercial lending portfolio exceeding $1 billion and working with clients across property, healthcare, professional services, hospitality, manufacturing, and retail. Over the years, he’s guided hundreds of clients through important funding decisions and complex transactions.

Papan enjoys helping clients feel supported when navigating more complex lending and investment decisions. He brings nearly two decades of senior experience from ANZ, Westpac, and Commonwealth Bank, where he supported a combined portfolio of $5.8 billion across commercial and residential lending.

His background includes structuring finance for major commercial property acquisitions, specialised residential projects, and long-term investment strategies, backed by deep experience in credit assessment and financial modelling. He’s known for his technical depth and his ability to design solutions that stand up in real-world conditions.

A Chartered Accountant by background, he brings over 19 years of experience from KPMG and Westpac, where he led finance teams managing multi-billion-dollar portfolios and worked closely with senior leaders on major funding and strategy initiatives.

That experience has given him a strong, behind-the-scenes understanding of how lending decisions are shaped and how different choices affect future options. He uses that perspective to help clients think ahead, weigh trade-offs, and make well-positioned decisions.
